Synology DS216play is another product from Synology. This NAS is equipped with DSM (the operating system also used in DS218+). At a glance, there is nothing different from DS218+ because the DSM on this CPU also has the same.

DS216play has an Intel Celeron dual-core processor and 1 GB RAM that you can upgrade to (maximum) 8 GB. DS216play has a hot-swappable drive bay and USB 3.0 port.

Unlike the DS218+, the DS216play does not have an HDMI port or IR receiver. The absence of these two devices lets you not (directly) connect them to your media center.
